Conferences
We have a well-developed pathology resident conference schedule, with a formal lecture or presentation occurring every morning and something more informal planned for the late afternoon on most days. In addition, many rotations are complemented by their own discussions, lectures, or joint conferences with physicians other departments. The conferences generally follow the outline schedule below.

Residents gain experience teaching and get to see the impact of the pathologic diagnosis on patient care through their presentations at interdepartmental conferences. In particular, there are several joint conferences with the internal medicine department in which interesting or complicated surgical pathology or autopsy cases are discussed (Med-Path Conferences or Autopsy CPC), or in which our residents review topics from the clinical lab which are relevant to the internist (Pathology for Clinicians). There are also several tumor boards, subspecialty case conferences, and other interdepartmental sessions which residents may attend throughout the month. Within our department, there are daily and weekly quality assurance conferences attended by residents and faculty.
